NT
The Northern Territory (NT) is world renowned for its beautiful vast and raw landscape full of cultural heritage. The NT has wonderous national parks such as Kakadu National Park known for its wetlands and abundant wildlife including crocodiles. Resources mined in the NT provide a strong economic injection. Tourism is another strong economic driver who come for both the natural beauty of the state as well as the cultural heritage, evident in both the landscape as well as arts, traditions and spiritual connections to the land. The aboriginal culture is deeply connected to the identity of the NT with Indigenous Australians inhabiting the state for tens of thousands of years. The NT is Australia’s third largest state but is sparsely populated. The main urban centres are Darwin, Alice Springs and Katherine. This can cause challenges for supplying aged care support to residents in more rural areas. There are nursing homes in Darwin, in fact, the majority of the state’s residential aged care homes are located in the states main city, Darwin.
