Western Australia (WA) is the largest state in Australia with over 2.5 million square kilometres. Given the size of the state, the range of natural landscapes is immense. The capital city of Western Australia is Perth is reported to be the worlds most isolated major city in the world. Western Australia has a very strong economy which is heavily boosted by the mining and resources industries. Iron ore, gold and natural gas are the mining staples. Western Australia’s strong economy also contributes to Australia’s overall GDP. Despite the state’s economic health, WA has challenges fuelled by its vast size and remoteness. For this reason, the majority of its successful ageing support are located in the major regional cities such as Bunbury, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Albany and Broome. Perth offers a wide range of both Home Care offerings and Residential Aged Care Homes. There are numerous allied health offerings in both Perth and regional cities. Large residential aged care providers with a strong presence in Western Australia are Mercy Health Aged Care, Southern Cross Care WA, and Opal.
