Kamahl to headline free Christmas in July concert for Aussie seniors

Legendary Aussie singer Kamahl will headline a free Christmas in July concert hosted by the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) next Tuesday.

The Malaysian-born singer, who has 30 albums that together have sold more than 20 million copies, said that being able to perform after COVID-19 lockdowns was like “being able to breathe again”.

“It’s great to be back on stage. It’s even better to be performing in front of my contemporaries.

“People’s time is valuable and they are spending it with me. That’s a privilege,” he said.

OPAN CEO Craig Gear OAM said the concert will be a great way for older people to connect with their loved ones after a tough few years.

“Our particular focus is older people living in residential aged care since they have perhaps borne the brunt of COVID-19 restrictions.

“But it certainly hasn’t been easy for older people at home, either. We hope everybody can enjoy the fun,” he said.
