Cost Contribution for Commonwealth Home Support Program
You are asked to contribute to the cost of the care and services you receive if you can afford it. You will not be asked to pay the full cost of your care as it is subsidized by the Australian Government to make it reasonable and affordable for everyone.
Each service provider you receive support from have their own client contribution policy which the service provider refers to in order to determine your fees. This policy is a public document so you can ask to see theirs.
Your Service Provider will likely ask questions around your finances, such as if you are a self-funded retiree or if you are a pensioner.
Remember
Service Provider are to talk and agree the costs of your support with you before you receive any services.
Your age pension will not be affected by the contributions you make towards the cost of your services.
If you find you can't afford your service fees, then talk to your Service Provider about how much you being asked to contribute. Arrangements for people who are unable to pay the requested contributions can usually be made.
