About
Guilford Young Grove, Retirement
Located in Sandy Bay Guilford Young Grove is the flagship of Southern Cross Care being our first Aged Care Facility which opened in 1975. Perched high on a hill the extensive unobstructed water views of the Derwent River provide an ever changing vista. The rose garden provides months of pleasure to residents and visitors alike as they wander around or sit on the comfortable benches to admire the views. The sheltered courtyard is a pleasant place to be at any time of the year. Guilford Young Grove has an enviable reputation for being a friendly homely facilty with personalised service from dedicated staff. The cosy rooms make the most of the expansive views and the Chapel is a quiet place for reflection and worship by all denominations. Regular Catholic and Anglican services are held in the Chapel and Pastoral Care support is available. A progressive Diversional Therapy program operates seven days a week, to assist in meeting the social and leisure aspects of the residents' lives. Frequent social events are held such as Melbourne Cup Day which reinforces the theme of 'any excuse for a party at Guilford Young Grove'. Close relationships have been forged with nearby schools, creches and community groups linking residents with the community. There are also close links between the independent villa residents and the Aged Care facility. Allied Health Services are provided by physiotherapists, podiatrists, a hairdresser and a beautician.
