About
Southern Cross Care Victoria Park Nursing Home & Hostel
Victoria Park Nursing Home and Hostel is a heritage style facility providing high and low care accommodation, comfortably catering for a vast array of needs and providing 24-hour nursing care to all residents. The ground on which the facility now stands was originally a community park given the name Victoria Park in 1898 in memory of Queen Victoria. In 1968 the Victoria Park Aged Care Home was opened to the public by the Little Sisters of the Poor. The facility was upgraded in 1997 and Southern Cross Care took ownership in 2009.
An important part of the fabric of Kalgoorlie, this facility boasts clean, bright en-suite rooms, a library, hairdressing salon and kiosk, along with a unique onsite chapel which features a beautiful stained glass window, encompassing almost one entire side of the building.
The Kalgoorlie Hospital and Path West Kalgoorlie Laboratory are just over one kilometre away, with another medical centre the same distance. Victoria Park Nursing Home is within 300 metres of St Mary’s Catholic Church and only 1.5 kilometres from Hannan Street and the Goldfields Highway. It is also co-located with Victoria Park Hostel and the onsite parking makes visiting convenient for family and friends.
Short term respite accommodation, from one day to a number of weeks, is also offered, providing peace of mind for carers. It can also be an important step in the smooth transition of the care recipient into permanent placement in the care facility.
