Joseph Cooke House
Nestled in the peaceful, riverside neighbourhood of Rossmoyne, Joseph Cooke House provides support and accommodation for 43 residents. Our modern home is located only one kilometre from the banks of the Canning River and has been a significant supporter of the local community for many years.
It is centrally located with nearby amenities including a post office, local IGA, bowls club, community centre, church and a chemist. There is also a medical centre close by, as well as hospital and ambulance services. Leach Highway is within close proximity, and with on-site visitor parking & public bus stops close by, visiting is a breeze.
Our residents all have private rooms, which are at least 15m² in size, plus enjoy a spacious en-suite, built-in wardrobes, shelves, lockable storage and a bedside table. Residents are welcome to bring their own wall hangings such as pictures, paintings and photographs. They can also bring items of furniture if space permits. We pride ourselves on making the move into a residential care home is as smooth and comfortable for the client as possible.
Natural light filters through rooms via the large mid floor to ceiling windows, with views to landscaped and accessible gardens. All rooms have easy access to the outdoor garden area and are close to the communal areas and the nurses’ station.
We offer a range of daily activities such as massage, manicures, music therapy, sensory therapy, two bus trips per week and daily delivery of newspapers for the exclusive use of the resident.
Each house offers a kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities for both residents and visitors to enjoy. The well appointed dining room caters for all residents including those with mobility aids. Dining tables seat four in a comfortable air conditioned environment with views to the garden.
There is a range of different weekly activities planned at Joseph Cooke House. There are regular card games, happy hours, bingo nights and exercise classes. In addition, there are often day trips, movie afternoons and concerts.
Our dedicated staff support our residents 24 hours a day through a variety of services including personal care, medication management and support services. We also receive specialist support from allied health professionals and dementia care consultants.
All rooms are offered to permanent residents however if a vacancy occurs, short term respite accommodation can be offered for an interim period. Respite can also be an important step in the smooth transition of the care recipient into permanent placement in the care facility.
Joseph Cooke House is co-located with Thomas Perrot Village, one of our independent living villages.
As a not-for-profit, Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc is committed to providing residential care to ensure West Australians have access to the services they need. Services can be charged by payment of a Maximum Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD), a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or combination of both RAD and DAP. We welcome supported residents and people who are socially disadvantaged.
