Meet Hip Op-eration – the world’s oldest hip-hop crew
With an average age of 80, this group of retirement village residents from Waiheke Island in New Zealand are not your usual hip-hop dancers.
Established by manager and choreographer Billie Jordan four years ago, the seven-member group has since competed at the 2013 World Hip-Hop Championships and New Zealand National Hip Hop Championships three times and travelled the world performing.
They also hold the Guinness World Record for oldest dance troupe, proving you’re never too old to get your dancing shoes on.
You can watch SBS’s Dateline episode about the group here or see their performance at the 2016 NZ Championships here.
