The Basic Fee
To receive a government subsidy, you may be asked to make a co-payment. People receiving a Home Care Package, no matter the level, may be asked to pay the basic fee, which is set at between 15.68% - 17.5% of a single person aged pension rate (depending on the Home Care Package level.)
The basic fee a provider may charge for a Home Care Package is between $10.49 - $11.71 per day or up to $163.94 per person per fortnight (from 20 September 2022). This rate increases in March and September each year in line with changes to the Age Pension. This may apply to each person receiving a Home Care Package, even if you are a member of a couple.
The Basic Daily Fee can also be referred to as a 'care recipient contribution' a 'care recipient fee' or a 'consumer fee'.
