Dementia and Cognition Supplement in Home Care
People with moderate to severe levels of cognitive impairment associated with dementia or other conditions may be eligible for supplementary funding. This is an extra 10% on top of the Home Care Package funding which the care recipient receives. Current rates of the dementia and cognition supplement are on the schedule of subsidies and supplements which you can find here.
Eligibility
People may be eligible for the supplement depending on results on the Psychogeriatric Assessment Scale (PAS) or done by a RUDAS assessment. As defined by Dementia Australia, “The Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale (RUDAS) is a short cognitive screening instrument designed to minimise the effects of cultural learning and language diversity on the assessment of baseline cognitive performance.”
A PAS or RUDAS assessment can be done by a:
- Registered nurse
- Clinical nurse consultant
- Nurse practitioner
- Clinical psychologist
Plus:
- Medical practitioner
